How to Set Healthy Boundaries
Setting boundaries can sometimes feel uncomfortable, especially when we have been taught to prioritise other people’s expectations over our own needs. But boundaries are not about becoming distant, selfish or unavailable.
Healthy boundaries help us understand what feels acceptable to us, what does not and how we would like to be treated. They allow us to communicate our needs honestly while respecting the needs and individuality of others.
Learning to set boundaries may mean saying no without excessive guilt, protecting your time and energy, stepping away from unhealthy dynamics or simply becoming clearer about what you are available for.
The right boundaries do not necessarily disconnect us from people. Very often, they help us build healthier, clearer and more respectful relationships—with others and with ourselves.
